The 70 weeks of Daniel

When talking about the 70 weeks mentioned in the book of (Daniel

9-24, 27) it makes me want to go back and find out where the 70 weeks came from; and who imposed this time upon Israel. In (Daniel 9-2) Daniel said he understood by books the number of years, whereof the word of the Lord came to the prophet, that he would accomplish 70 years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

In (Jeremiah 25-1,12) the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah in the

Fourth year of Neb-u-chad-nezzar King of Babylon. God sent the

Prophet Jeremiah to speak to Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem 23 years rising early and speaking Gods word to them

But they didn’t listen.

So The Lord sent all his servants the prophets to Judah and the people of the land and they remained hardened and would not turn

From their evil ways and doings; so they could dwell in the land the Lord had given them and there fathers forever. They were told not to go after other gods or worship them, neither provoke the Lord to anger and He would do them no harm.

However because Judah wouldn’t listen God said I will send and take all the families of the north, and Neb-u-chad-nezzar King of

Babylon my servant, to bring them against this land, and all the nations round about to destroy them.

Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle. And this whole land shall be an astonishment: and these nations shall serve

the King of Babylon seventy years.

Now to show you Gods love for Israel even after punishing them for their rebellion and hardness of heart: God said in (verse 12)

And it shall come to pass, when the 70 years are accomplished, that I will punish the King of Babylon and that nation, saith the Lord, for their inequity, and the land of the Chald-de-ans will I

make it perpetual desolations.

One of the reasons for writing this article, several ministers associate this time with the tribulation. As you will find out

In the eBook which will be out in January, this lesson has nothing to do with the tribulation or God taking people to heaven for 7 years to escape it. Talk to you later
